During World War Two Canada's Automotive industry manufactured almost 900,000 military vehicles for the Allied war effort. The vast majority of these vehicles were shipped to the Commonwealth nations around the world. The most recognized vehicle was the Canadian Military Pattern or commonly referred to as the "CMP". It's distinct design is known world wide.
The most manufactured CMP was the C60 3 tonner 4x4 cab and chassis. Over 209,000 units were made which accounted for approximately 24% of all vehicles. Various boxes of all shapes and sizes were then added to the rear of the truck. These trucks were then used to haul infantry, ammunition, stores, mobile kitchens, canteens, mobile work and repair shops and surgeries.
This CMRS vehicle is a rare General Service model that comes equipped with an observer's hatch on the passenger side of the cab plus a power take off winch located under the rear box. This winch was designed to operate either out of the front or rear or the vehicle.
Although the vehicle is extremely good shape. It had a total restoration between 2006 and 2007 with only minor changes still outstanding. It is one of approximately 6 restored units remaining in Canada and was also present at the opening of Canada's new war museum in Ottawa.
